Bodhisattva Tara is an incarnation of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, also known as the Holy Mother of Salvation. In ancient China, she was called Tārā or Duōluó Guānyīn. There are twenty-one manifestations of Tara, all of which are incarnations of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Green Tara is the principal deity among all Taras, embodying the virtues of the other twenty. She has one face and two arms, presenting the image of a young maiden in a compassionate posture. She wears a five-buddha crown and is adorned with various jewels, dressed in celestial garments to signify her dignity. She sits on a lotus moon disc, holding a utpala flower (a fully blooming blue lotus with eight petals).
She is a guardian deity in Buddhism and the protector of women and children. She possesses great power to shield people from disasters and calamities. She can eliminate all obstacles, diseases, and misfortunes, and bestow blessings, longevity, and wisdom. All prayers to her will be answered. The green color of jade symbolizes continuous life, longevity, and peace.
Blue Lotus: The blue lotus blossoms in the mud and is regarded as a sacred flower in Buddhist culture. Its beauty, tenacity, purity, and nobility inspire deep reverence and respect for life and faith. The lotus at the six o’clock position represents “six-hour auspiciousness” and “six-hour alignment.”
Rather than just a wristwatch, it is as if the Green Tara herself is sitting on the lotus dharma ground, with the mandala faintly visible. It is not bound by form, but through it, one can perceive the Green Tara.
Unique second-hand design: The Green Tara seed syllable has a unique beauty and is the essence of ancient Chinese characters. Its image is sacred, solemn, and full of respect. One character gives rise to many, and many are contained within one.
The Green Tara seed syllable, as the second-hand, rotates 1,440 times a day, equivalent to reciting the Green Tara mantra 1,440 times, bringing boundless merit and blessings.
